In this incendiary documentary, Michael Moore goes to small towns and big cities alike to take corporate executives to task for making ever-increasing profits while downsizing and outsourcing the jobs of line workers across multiple industries and exporting jobs to countries where worker protections and human rights are weaker.

Grade: B+.

Ron Livingston stars in this low-budget biopic of disability rights activist, Richard Pimentel, who fights for work opportunities for disabled veterans after he severely damaged his hearing in the Vietnam War. An engaging script treats this subject matter delicately and all of the actors turn in good, believable performances.

Grade: B.

When mobster Frank Tagliano is offered witness protection in exchange for his testimony, he picks Lillehammer, Norway, as his new home. In this unusual, but engrossing fish-out-of-water comedy series from Netflix, Steven Van Zandt and a Scandinavian cast put a new twist on the confused immigrant trope.

In this French sci-fi action flick, a street punk from the worst ghetto in Paris and an undercover cop join forces to save the city from a crime boss with a neutron bomb. Full of intricate parkour and fight sequences, the action and soundtrack here drive an exciting story.

Grade: B+.

This engrossing documentary follows the expedition of Jeff Johnson as he retraces the epic journey to Patagonia undertaken in 1968 by two young climbers who went on to create the North Face, Patagonia, and Esprit. Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins, the original adventurers, join the modern expedition at its conclusion.

Grade: A.

In this small festival documentary, a couple of guys quit their jobs, raise as much money as they can, and set out to cross the continent on Segway scooters, trying to find sponsorship along the way. This picture shows the inspiring power of plotting a course and following a dream.

Grade: B.

Scott Pilgrim, the bass player in an indie band, is forced to fight the seven ex-boyfriends of his new girlfriend. Michael Cera plays Scott to perfection and contends with increasingly evil opponents. With a serious video game feel, this comedy never for a moment loses its sense of fun.

After her father is murdered by a notorious outlaw, Mattie recruits a grizzled drunken Marshal to hunt down the outlaw and return him to face justice. The Coen Brothers direct a star-studded cast (including newcomer Hailee Steinfeld, Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, and Josh Brolin) in a phenomenal western epic.

Dante isn’t even supposed to be here today, but his boss is out of town and who else is going to open the Quick Stop? This classic independent comedy has a fantastic script, an entire universe of hilarious moments, and a iconic cast of eccentric characters, including director Kevin Smith.

A lethal pandemic virus is spreading around the world, leaving an apartment building in Buenos Aires under lock down as the tenants struggle to cope with and understand the increasing disorder outside. The characters in this apocalyptic drama get increasingly neurotic, anxious, and dangerously unpredictable as the crisis wears on.

Grade: B-.
